February 7, 2011, Pot Luck Dinner at 6:30 PM- Bring a dish with a locally sourced ingredient or raw food non-meat dish; Guest speaker Tina Clarke of Transition US; Discussion of recycling in Monroeville.

March 7, 2011, Speaker Kevin May, Philosophical, Cultural Recyclist and Transitioner speaking about life and good living. We'll also do an update on our work including recycling, Permaculture Design, and implementation of a vegetable garden this spring.

April 4, 2011, Screening of Gasland, the Academy Award nominated documentary followed by discussion of joyful alternatives. Potluck dinner at 6:00 PM and movie at 6:30 PM.

May 2, 2011 7:00 PM Learn about Permaculture with Elisa Beck. What does it mean and how can I do it in my yard and community too?

May 10, 2011 6:30 PM in collaboration with the Monroeville Public Library: Screening of Gasland and community discussion in the gallery space

June 6, 2011 7:00 PM Moni Wesner retired physician on Eating your Yard. Lois Drumheller, third ward council woman on the food garden on municipal property outside the Monroeville Library. Everyone will go home with a plant and see the new garden!

July 11, 2011 Update from the Recycling committee, and the Cedars; view and weeding in the garden outside the Monroeville Public Library with Lois, and information about Planet Aid with dorothy Moyta

August 1, 2011 Learn about beekeeping with Roberta Jones, beekeeper extrordinaire from Murrysville. Check out Laurel Mountain Bees and join us for an evening of honey tasting, hand cream sampling and seeing live bees, contained in a special space called an observation hive. Help weed the garden too!

September 12, 2011 Join us at 6:00 PM for a pot luck dinner and & 7:00 PM for our Gift Circle. See blog entry for details!

October  3, 2011 Kerri LaCharite, Produce Specialist at the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will speak about local and urban agriculture initiatives and volunteer opportunities in South Western Pennsylvania. See blog entry for moer details.


November 14, 2011 5:30 PM at Monroeville Fire Hall # 4, 4370 Northern Pike, in Monroeville, PA for a public meeting sponsored by Alcosan to update the community on fulfilling the consent decree to fix the sewage system in Allegheny County.   Followed by our meeting at 7:00 PM at the Monroeville Public Library. Speaker will be Rachel Kudrick of the Pittsburgh Public Market.
